For Quenardel Champagnes, the origin of the estate dates back to the 19th century with the construction of its magnificent vaulted cellars in 1820 and the production of the estate's first bottle of Champagne by Alfred Ravez in 1863.
The Ravez family was the first family to own the field. A Ravez girl married a Quenardel just before the Second World War before giving birth in 1938 to Francis Quenardel who joined her father in Verzenay in 1956 to work with him on, then, only 60 ares of vines.
Champagne Quenardel et Fils was born… He took over the operation definitively in 1965 after having planted vines on many quality terroirs around Reims, finally reaching 7 hectares. Francis bought the house in Place Carnot and the cellars in 1989 from his cousin Jean-François Ravez.
One of his three daughters, Christel, married Jean-Christophe Faucomprez in the 1980s and the couple took over the current estate and its 7 hectares in 1993. 21 years later, the Quenardel-Faucomprez family entrusted the keys of its terroirs to the Labruyère Family.
One of the traditions is the prolonged aging of all the cuvées. Thus, for example, the brut without year leave the cellars only after 5 years of rest in the peace of the historic cellars.
